Lower Pine Creek Falls is a small cascade and pool in a sandstone creek canyon below the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway switchbacks, on the park’s east side. It’s a satisfying detour if you’re up for a short, rough creek walk; skip it if you expect a signed, dry path.

Start at the small roadside pull-off beside the Pine Creek bridge at the first switchback below the tunnel, then follow the creek upstream. The falls are about a third of a mile from the access, though published round-trip estimates range from about half a mile to 0.8 mile. The route is informal and unmaintained: expect creek crossings, wet rock, boulder hopping and a scramble near the alcove. Avoid it when rain threatens.

The short falls spill over broad sandstone shelves into a pool. Water levels change how much is flowing. For a photo, include the shelves and the pool together; the rock gives the small cascade some scale.
