Parking

Use the Jordan Pond visitor area off Park Loop Road, then follow the Jordan Pond Path to its northeastern-shore junction with the Carry. The route ends at the southern side of Eagle Lake; plan a pickup or a mapped return route before setting out.

Safety

Rocks, roots, damp ground, low plank bridges and stepping stones make the tread uneven and potentially slick after rain.

Hiking Jordan Pond Carry

A short link between the lakesJordan Pond Carry is a shaded, one-way 1.

Jordan Pond Carry is a shaded, one-way 1.1-mile path connecting the northeastern shore of Jordan Pond with the southern end of Eagle Lake. It climbs gently through the divide between Pemetic Mountain and The Bubbles, then drops toward the lake. Allow about 35 to 45 minutes northbound. Published distances vary from 1.1 to 1.2 miles; this is a connector, not a loop, so plan your return or pickup before setting out.

What the path is likeExpect a narrow woodland trail with rocks, roots, ferns and damp patches.

Expect a narrow woodland trail with rocks, roots, ferns and damp patches. Short, low plank bridges and stepping stones cross the wetter spots. The route reaches its high point about 0.4 mile from the Jordan Pond end, then gradually descends toward Eagle Lake. It is an easy walk, but the uneven footing can be awkward or slick after rain.

Access and a useful stopReach the southern junction from the Jordan Pond Path along the northeast shore.

Reach the southern junction from the Jordan Pond Path along the northeast shore. The Carry ends at the south side of Eagle Lake, where other paths can extend the walk. It is point-to-point, so decide how you will get back before starting. Jordan Pond House is a separate stop at the pond access, with tea and popovers; Jordan Pond House is a separate stop at the pond access, not on the Carry. Dogs are allowed on most Acadia trails, including this route, and must stay on a leash no longer than six feet.
