Two Jack Lake

Two Jack Lake is a public day-use shore on Banff's Lake Minnewanka Loop, about 11 km from Banff. Stop for a picnic, a paddle, or a walk along the shoreline trail, with a broad mountain view across the water. Picnic tables, outhouses, and water access serve the day-use area. Go early in summer: parking is limited and the lot can fill on clear weekends.

The day-use area is separate from Two Jack Lakeside and Two Jack Main campgrounds, which are overnight destinations. Seasonal Roam service reaches Two Jack Lake. The picnic-area lot is for vehicles under 6 m; use marked spaces only, since roadside and off-road parking are prohibited. Snow can limit winter access and services. This is a picnic stop, so bring food from Banff; potable water is not confirmed, and the listed toilets are outhouses.

The lakeshore trail and water access make it easy to combine a walk with paddling; paddleboard rentals are available in Banff. The water is cold, so plan for that if you go in. A still day gives the lake its best reflection. From shore, frame the water with the forested point and Mount Rundle across it.

The wider Minnewanka area has been used by Indigenous Peoples for sustenance, ceremony, travel, and trade for centuries. Treaty 7 and Rocky View Métis District 4 of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government are part of the area's stewardship context. The region's later history includes railway development in the late 1800s and hydroelectric works in the early 1900s; those stories belong to the broader Minnewanka landscape, not specifically this shore.
