Silverton Falls Trail

Silverton Falls Trail is a short out-and-back from the Rockbound Lake parking area: about 0.9 km each way, or 1.8 km (1.1 miles) round trip, with a roughly 40-minute visit. A separate route measure is a little longer at 2.1 km, so leave room for the walk to run over the official estimate. It is a compact waterfall hike, not a flat stroll: the route climbs about 85 m to an exposed hillside viewpoint.

The first 300 m follows the wider Rockbound Lake Trail through forest. At the signed fork, turn right for Silverton Falls; the turn can be easy to walk past. The branch narrows, with roots and rocks underfoot, and follows Silverton Creek before turning away from the water onto short, steeper switchbacks.

Openings in the trees look across the Bow Valley toward Copper Mountain, then toward Mt. Ball and Storm Mountain. The trail ends beside the waterfall on an exposed slope. From the small viewing area, the water drops over narrow rock ledges through a steep gorge; the viewing area is small; getting lower for another angle involves a steep scramble over rocks. Frame the visible falls with the gorge walls to show how tightly the water cuts through the rock.

Rock and root patches continue along the narrow path, and the final hillside has unrailed drop-offs with little room to pass. Take care on the switchbacks and stay off the steep scramble below the viewpoint. Dogs are allowed on leash and must remain under physical control. Rockbound Lake parking has limited paved spaces, a bike rack and two gender-neutral outhouses; no food or drinking-water stop is listed at the trailhead or along the walk.
