Expect layered blue ridges fading to the horizon and big-sky drama when the weather cooperates. On clear days it’s tailor-made for long-lens ridge shots; in fall, the surrounding slopes pop with color.
This is a straightforward roadside overlook: a small paved pullout with no restrooms, water, or picnic tables. It’s usually a short stop—snap some photos, soak up the view, and roll on. If it’s socked-in or hazy, don’t sweat it; the next overlook may be clearer.
Chasing different angles or if parking’s full? Try Lickstone Ridge Overlook to the north or Jenkins Ridge Overlook to the south—both close by and worth a peek.
“Bald” nods to the region’s treeless mountaintop meadows of old. Along the Parkway, some of those spots have reforested over time, but here you still get a proper roadside vista when conditions are clear.
