Guide
This is Truro’s town-run Atlantic beach at the end of Coast Guard Road, backed by high dunes. Make sure your directions point to Truro; the better-known Eastham beach is a separate place. The lot has 17 spaces, with 10 reserved for Truro resident beach-sticker holders. In season, a town beach parking sticker is required and daily stickers aren’t sold. There’s no lifeguard or food vendor; a portable toilet is provided in season. Accessible parking is available, but the beach itself isn’t wheelchair accessible and no beach wheelchair is available.
Come for open shoreline, surf and the sound of waves. Visitors often mention seals offshore, but sightings aren’t guaranteed. Some off-season visitors have found it quiet; the small lot limits how many cars can fit when beach use picks up. For a photo, use the access rail as a foreground with the dune on one side and surf along the other, so the frame shows how the beach sits beneath the dune.
Station Highland ties this stretch of coast to Cape Cod’s early lifesaving network. It was one of the original nine Life-Saving Service stations built when the service reached Cape Cod in 1872, and its ruins are mapped near the beach. The access route to the ruins isn’t established, so treat the history as context rather than a separate stop.
