Hiking Pamet Cranberry Bog Trail
What the walk isThis is a roughly 1.8-mile out-and-back to the former cranberry Bog House.
This is a roughly 1.8-mile out-and-back to the former cranberry Bog House. Allow about 75 minutes. The route starts beside the Environmental Education Center and follows wooded paths over log steps and a short boardwalk to the old house in the former bog landscape. Turn around there and return the same way.

At the junction, follow the Bog House direction rather than continuing toward Bearberry Hill. The overlook is a separate outing; its shorter mileage does not cover this full walk. The mapped line to the house is about 0.92 mile each way. Published totals vary with the extensions included, so use the trail markers to make sure you take the Bog House branch. The entrance can be easy to miss from the small parking area.
A cranberry-growing landscapeThis was once a commercial cranberry operation.
This was once a commercial cranberry operation. The wider landscape included three small freshwater bogs, sand pits, drains, and culverts that controlled the water. Cranberry growing ended around 1960, and no cranberries remain. The former Bog House is the clearest reminder that this quiet patch of woods once worked very differently.
