The Beachcomber is a seasonal seafood restaurant, bar and live-music venue in a former U.S. Life-Saving Service station in the dunes above Cahoon Hollow Beach. The outdoor seating faces the Atlantic, so the meal comes with a strong beach setting. Choose it for seafood and a lively summer atmosphere; it can feel crowded if you want a quiet dinner.
Shellfish shucked to order is the standout, alongside other seafood, burgers, fries, tacos and wings. The menu has familiar alternatives for a mixed group, and the bar adds cocktails and live music in season.
The building served as one of the Outer Cape's lifesaving stations on a coast shaped by shoals and storms. Crews watched the shore and used surfboats or line-and-breeches-buoy rescues to bring shipwrecked people ashore. In 1953, Russell Gallagher bought the old station and turned it into a small inn called the Beachcomber.
