A Farm Fed by the Tide“An oyster farm doesn't need bags of feed. Once oysters are growing in coastal water, they filter out tiny floating algae, taking their meals from the water around them.”

Guide
Wellfleet Hollow is a wooded Massachusetts state campground in Wellfleet, with tent and small-unit sites. It’s a practical base for lower-Cape beaches, nearby nature trails and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, rather than a day-use stop. Camping is for registered campers, and this is a state campground outside National Park Service ownership; the Seashore itself doesn’t operate campgrounds.
Reservations are required; walk-ins aren’t accepted. The site mix includes tent-only and small pop-up options, some with electric hookups, plus group and hike/bike sites and a yurt. RVs and larger trailers aren’t allowed. One vehicle is allowed per campsite, and some tent-only sites are walk-in. Pets and generators aren’t allowed, so check the current season and equipment rules when booking.
Campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. There are flush toilets, outdoor showers, drinking water and a dishwashing station; some campsites and one comfort station are listed as accessible. Plan to bring meals—no food service is listed on site. Firewood is sold at the camp office, and bringing firewood in or out is prohibited.
Duck Pond is about a half-mile walk from camp. It’s a clear pond where swimming and non-motorized boating are allowed, but there are no lifeguards.
Clean bathrooms and showers are a repeated plus, and the location works well for reaching beaches and recreation. Site spacing gets mixed reports: some campers find sites close together, while others describe a quiet stay with enough separation. If privacy matters to you, take a close look at the individual site layout before booking.
Before Massachusetts acquired the property in 2018, it was Paine’s Campground; the Paine family had run it for 60 years. You may still see the old name in earlier references.
