More about Hole-in-the-Wall Falls

The waterfall and the walkHole-in-the-Wall Falls is a 96-foot cascade on Warren Creek, 0.

Hole-in-the-Wall Falls is a 96-foot cascade on Warren Creek, 0.6 mile west of Starvation Creek along the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. It’s an easy stop for a substantial waterfall: the paved, well-graded path to the overlook is universally accessible. The narrow upper drop spills over a lower ledge into boulders; dark rock and green growth frame the water. For a photo, include both drops and cliff walls.

Why the falls are hereEngineers created these falls in 1938 to protect the Columbia River Highway.

Engineers created these falls in 1938 to protect the Columbia River Highway. They blasted a tunnel through the cliff and diverted Warren Creek. The main drop is about 60 feet, with 96 feet of falls overall. “Warren Falls” names the original natural cascade, though it’s sometimes applied to the present falls too. That explains older references.
