Creekside Lodge

Creekside Lodge is a year-round, two-story hotel beside Grace Coolidge Creek, about 200 yards from Custer State Park’s historic State Game Lodge. It’s the newer, separate lodging building, added in 2008, and works best as a place to stay inside the park rather than a separate sightseeing stop. Buffalo Safari Jeep Tours check in here, so it’s useful if you’re taking that trip. The historic lodge, its dining room and gift shop are nearby but separate.

Each room is a one-room junior suite with a sitting area. Choose between two queen beds plus a sofa sleeper for up to six, or a king plus a sofa sleeper for up to four. A small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker make it easy to keep drinks and simple snacks in the room. Some rooms have creek or hillside views, with a first-floor patio or second-floor balcony; ask for the layout or view you want when booking.

Accessible room options are on the ground floor and include grab bars and either a shower seat or a tub and shower. The lodge has two floors, and stairs are required for the second-floor rooms.

The paved Creekside Trail passes the lodge and connects the Custer State Park Visitor Center with Grace Coolidge Campground. The visitor center and the Wildlife Loop Road are each about a half-mile away, making this a handy base for exploring the park. Guests have a private parking lot.

There’s no restaurant identified inside Creekside Lodge. The State Game Lodge dining room and gift shop are about a 200-yard walk away and operate seasonally. Don’t count on breakfast at Creekside without checking first: guest reports differ, and the official room information points to the neighboring restaurant for dining. The building has its own front desk, but staffing and check-in arrangements can vary, so confirm where to check in before arrival. Wi-Fi is listed for the private lobby; room access isn’t confirmed.
