Rock Creek Trail

Rock Creek Trail is a maintained, point-to-point entrance-area trail from the Denali Visitor Center campus to Denali Park Headquarters and the sled dog kennels. The official one-way distance is 2.4 miles, with about 400 feet of gain traveling east to west and grades up to 15%; allow about two hours one way. The mapped route begins at the Visitor Center campus via the Taiga Loop connector, then follows Rock Creek Trail west to the Headquarters-side trailhead. It is not a loop by itself. Return by the same route, use the free shuttle between the visitor center and kennels in summer, or combine it with the Roadside Hiking Trail for a longer loop.

Expect a maintained dirt/gravel path through spruce-birch forest with occasional ridge-line views of Mount Healy. East-to-west travel is the uphill direction; west-to-east is generally downhill. Wildlife including moose may be present. Weather changes quickly; carry layers and rain gear, and follow Denali's bear-safety guidance.
