Lake Sherburne's Other Job“Lake Sherburne has a job far beyond the Many Glacier valley: storing water for irrigation in north-central Montana. Its dam, on Swiftcurrent Creek, was completed in nineteen twenty-one.”

Guide
Many Glacier Entrance Station marks the road entry to Glacier National Park’s separate Many Glacier area, just west of Babb. It is a brief pass-through on the way into the valley, rather than a stop to plan around. The covered log booth and vehicle lanes are the recognizable landmark.
From US 89, follow the Many Glacier signs at Babb; the entrance lies just west of town. This pin marks the entrance building. The Many Glacier Ranger Station is a separate facility nearly five miles farther west, so don’t mistake it for the park entrance.
Many Glacier lies where four major valleys meet; two contain glaciers. Farther inside are the Many Glacier Hotel, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and campground, along with boat cruises, bus tours and horseback rides. Those are valley services, separate from the entrance station, so treat the gate as the beginning of your visit.
