The trail passes marsh habitat and dense willows near the pond, then climbs through forest to a ridge with a broad Teton Range view. Watch for wildlife in the willows. Many unofficial paths cross this area, so carry a map and pay attention to trail signs. Bears may be active at any time; the park advises traveling in groups, making noise and carrying bear spray. Pets aren't allowed on the loop.

The name tied to the lodgeThe pond was named for Charles A.

The pond was named for Charles A. Christian, known as Tex, who cared for the Amoretta Inn before it became the original Jackson Lake Lodge. That history connects this small wetland stop to the lodge that anchors the approach today.
