Lizard Creek Campground

Lizard Creek Campground has 60 sites on Fonda Point, slightly above Jackson Lake’s north shore in Grand Teton’s remote northern end. It’s a handy base for splitting time between Grand Teton and Yellowstone, with lodgepole pine, spruce and fir around camp and the Teton Range across the water. This is a basic forest campground, and many sites don’t have a lake view.

There are two loops, with nearly half the sites set aside for walk-in tent camping. Pick a specific site with its photos and details in mind instead of assuming you’ll be beside the water.

The vehicle sites take RVs or trailers up to 25 feet. The loops are narrow, paved and hilly, and site pads vary, so longer trailers can be awkward to maneuver. Check the site dimensions and photos before booking. Sites can sit close together, so privacy varies too.

None of the 60 sites are ADA accessible; the restrooms are partially accessible.

Jackson Lake is about 15 miles long and nearly seven miles wide, with a maximum depth over 400 feet. The campground has lakeshore access for fishing, canoes and kayaks, but no boat ramp. No hiking trail leaves directly from camp, so you’ll need to drive to nearby trailheads at Colter Bay.

Across the water, look for Webb Canyon, Owl and Ranger peaks; the Teton Range stretches across the southern view. Bald eagles and osprey often perch in lakeshore trees. Red fox, coyotes and mule deer also live in the campground area.
