Overview
Mountain View Turnout is a level, paved roadside viewpoint and ceremony site on Teton Park Road, looking across an open sagebrush meadow to the Teton Range. It gives you the full skyline without a walk, so it’s an easy stop to pair with Jenny Lake. Visitors praise the view, but low morning fog can hide the peaks; leave some flexibility if clear mountain views are the point.

Guide
From Jackson, turn onto Teton Park Road at Moose Junction and continue past South Jenny Lake and North Jenny Lake Junction; the turnout is just beyond the latter. There are about 23 parking spaces, paved pathways and designated accessible parking. There’s no restroom, bench, picnic table or shelter, and potable water wasn’t confirmed here.
Teton Park Road closes to vehicles from November 1 through April 30. In winter, reaching the turnout means an 8-mile one-way trip from Taggart Lake Trailhead by foot, skis or bike, depending on conditions.
The meadow keeps the whole skyline in view, and arrowleaf balsamroot can add a bright yellow foreground when it’s blooming. The turnout is also a popular ceremony site, with formal paved paths across the level ground.
The rocks in the Tetons formed hundreds of millions to billions of years ago. Movement along the Teton fault began lifting the range less than 10 million years ago, and Ice Age glaciers carved the canyons and lakes below it. Water, wind and ice still wear at the peaks.
