Trail guide
This easy out-and-back follows Stony Creek from its roadside car park through a grassy eucalypt picnic area to Lily Pond and its cascade. The visitor listing gives 1 km return and about 20 minutes. The mapped tread measures about 0.25 mi one way, so the listed round-trip figure appears rounded; this remains a very short creek walk.
The route crosses a small bridge into the picnic area and continues over several creek bridges. It is described as easy and stroller friendly, with the formed path also described as suitable for wheelchairs and prams. Some mapped path sections are unpaved, and current step-free access has not been confirmed, so check conditions if accessibility is essential. Dogs are allowed on leash. The closest toilets are at Blanket Leaf Picnic Area.
The path ends at a long cascade flowing into Lily Pond. The rocks at the water are slippery and potentially dangerous; stay on the formed path and view the cascade from stable ground. The pond’s lily pads and wooded edge make a distinctive photo, without needing to step onto the wet rocks.
A grassy clearing partway along the walk can attract grazing kangaroos, and sugar gliders leave sap-feeding marks on some tree trunks; neither wildlife nor marks are guaranteed. The route is also known as Camel’s Lily Pond Walk, named in tribute to Michael John Callanan for his conservation and community work. Flood damage in 2016 washed out three creek bridges; replacement bridges were built afterward.
