Indian Creek Trail

Indian Creek Trail is a 3.6-mile point-to-point corridor from its junction with Deep Creek Trail to the northern junction near Sunkota Ridge. It rises about 700 feet overall; allow roughly 2½ hours one way for the named trail itself. The south start is about 0.7 mile from the road-end parking. To return to that lot by retracing the full route, plan on about 8.6 miles of walking, including the approach each way.

Park at the end of Deep Creek Road, past Deep Creek Campground, then follow Deep Creek Trail about 0.7 mile to the Indian Creek junction. This access section is wide gravel with occasional roots and rocks. It flattens near Tom Branch Falls about 0.3 mile in; five benches face the falls across Deep Creek. The trail continues another 0.4 mile to the bridge and junction.

Cross the footbridge and turn right. Indian Creek Falls is about 520 feet along, on the left, and drops below the trail. Keep back from the edge. The stepped cascade and creek pool make a strong view from the trail. If the waterfall is your main goal, the shorter park-described outing from Deep Creek parking is 1.6 miles round trip; it returns after the falls rather than continuing up this corridor.

Past the falls, the native-surface trail continues toward Sunkota Ridge, crossing a footbridge over Indian Creek and climbing to its northern junction. The NPS inventory lists some sections for hikers and horses and others for hikers only. Pets are not allowed. The campground has seasonal restrooms; food service was not found at the trailhead or along the route. A parking tag is required at the Deep Creek lot.
