Trail guide
The Base Loop is an easy, red-marker circuit of about half a mile on the lower grounds, starting beside the Farmhouse. It is mostly level; allow 20–30 minutes, longer if you stop with the self-guided natural-history brochure. It makes a pleasant short walk during a visit to the farm, but it is not the uphill route to a Lake George overlook.
The lower loop passes the Children’s Sensory Garden and near the Sugar House, with the garden’s gravel curves, flower beds and wooded edge as the clearest place to pause. Expect natural tread with roots and rocks in places. One gravel section is identified as wheelchair and stroller accessible; that does not establish access across the whole loop. The published half-mile distance describes the full marked circuit. The line on the map is an approximate reconstruction, so follow the red markers if the on-screen route differs.
Use the visitor lot at 5239 Lake Shore Drive and check in at the white Farmhouse; the route begins on its left side. A day-use fee is required. Restrooms are near the parking area, and the welcome center has local maple syrup and field guides for a separate stop. Pets are not allowed except qualifying service animals, and children need adult supervision. For a Lake George view, choose one of the separate upper-property trails.
