Lymington Harbour and Marshes“You're approaching Lymington's old quay, where cobbled streets and waterfront buildings recall a working port that once exported salt from pans along the river marshes.”

Trail guide
Lymington Town Trail is an easy 2-mile loop from Lymington Town Railway Station to the harbour and back through leafy lanes and the old High Street. Allow 1–2 hours for the level walk and time to stop; expect cobbled streets by the quay and ordinary town roads on the return.
Leave the station via Mill Lane and the narrow back street to the historic quay. Follow cobbled streets and Quay Road with the harbour on your left, past the marine warehouses, then skirt the recreation ground on Bath Road. Take the lane beside the Mayflower toward Kings Saltern Road, avoiding the right branch onto Stanley Road. Continue past the Sea Scouts and Chandlers Yard; at Brook Road, fork left onto Waterford Lane and follow Church Lane to High Street opposite St Thomas the Apostle church. The High Street leads downhill to the quay. Look out for the station turn before the bike-hire shops; it is easy to miss.
Yachts, harbour water and the old quay frontage make this the walk’s defining scene; frame a few boats against the buildings. The seawater baths opened in 1833 on a site used for sea bathing since 1755. Pubs, shops and restaurants line the quay and High Street, including the Mayflower on the route. Public toilets are near St Barbe Museum. Trains and buses reach the station; drivers can start from Town Quay Car Park on Quay Road, which lies on the circuit.
