Lower Lake Campground is a seasonal, unserviced campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, with well-treed sites suited to tents and RVs. Keep it in mind for a forested base near Kananaskis Lakes, with hiking and mountain-bike trails and paved paths nearby. It sits off Kananaskis Lakes Trail, about 50 km south of Highway 1 via Highway 40.
Facilities include firepits, pit toilets, a playground and secure food storage. The hand-pump water isn't safe to drink, and tap-water service is seasonal and weather-dependent, so bring drinking water. Firewood is sold by the campground manager or at Boulton Creek Campground's store.
The wooded setting is a draw, but privacy varies: some pitches are screened by trees, while others are more open or close together. Check the site photos and campground map before booking if privacy or a tent-friendly pitch matters. The lakes are nearby, but don't assume every campsite is on the shore. Visitors often find the campground peaceful and the facilities clean; reports on noise vary.
