Guide
Lička Kuća is a park-run restaurant beside Plitvice Lakes’ Entrance 1 on the D429, serving regional Lika cooking in a timber house styled after local homes. It’s the stop to choose when you want a proper sit-down meal near the entrance; the dining room seats 270, and parking is provided for restaurant guests. If a slow-cooked lamb specialty is the reason you’re coming, ask ahead, since some dishes need advance notice and reported lead times vary.
The signature Lički zavežljaj, or Lika Bundle, reworks the regional pairing of lamb and potatoes traditionally cooked under a bell. The restaurant also highlights grilled trout, škripavac cheese, potato halves, homemade bread and plum strudel. Those are the local specialties to look for; the exact current menu wasn’t verifiable, so ask what’s being served when you arrive.
The restaurant has operated since 1972. Its design draws on the traditional Lika house, with warm wood, household objects from earlier local life and an open fireplace. It’s a more distinctive setting than a basic park café, and makes the meal part of the regional experience.
The restaurant stands by Entrance 1, where roadside bus stops serve both directions along the D429. Hotel Jezero guests can use free transport to and from the restaurant. Visitor experiences vary: some praise the regional food and atmosphere, while others report slow service or disappointing value, so I’d leave a cushion if you’re on a tight park schedule.
