Getting there

Wild Basin Road branches off Highway 7 near Allenspark. Copeland Lake is about 13.6 miles from Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, and the road is unpaved at the site. Tables are first come, first served. Vault toilets are in the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead parking area just before the lake, rather than at the picnic tables.

Five accessible picnic tables and permitted portable grills make it a straightforward place for lunch. I'd pair it with the hike or another Wild Basin stop instead of making it the whole outing.
