Guide
Honokōhau Bay Lookout is a small roadside viewpoint on HI-30, above the curved shore of Honokōhau Bay. The rocky edge, red-brown cliffs and green slopes make it a worthwhile few-minute stop on West Maui’s north-coast drive. The view is close to the parking area, so there’s no hike to reach it.
Use the parking at the lookout itself. The bay shoreline and Honokōhau village are separate from this stop; avoid driving up the village’s residential dead-end road. The ground slopes toward the coast, so keep children close.
The curve of the shore, red cliffs and blue-gray water all fit in one view. Include a little of the grassy slope in the foreground to show the height above the water and keep the bay’s shape in frame.
