Canyon Campground

Canyon Campground is a developed campground of 273 sites at 7,900 feet, set among lodgepole pines at Canyon Village. It makes a practical base for park day trips: trails to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone are accessible from the campground, and Canyon Village services are about a quarter mile away. The campground runs seasonally through summer.

Choose it for a wooded base close to the park’s central sights, not a secluded wilderness stay. Some sites are close together, and shade and level ground vary from loop to loop.

Sites accommodate tents, RVs, or both, and each has a picnic table and fire grate. There are no utility hookups. Each loop has a flush-toilet comfort station and dishwashing area; showers and laundry are in a separate camper-services building near the front of the campground. Water and a dump station are available, and bear-resistant food lockers are provided at many campsites. Keep food and other scented items secured when you are not preparing them.

Three accessible campsites are in Loop L, with accessible restrooms nearby. Paths are compacted gravel or dirt with little change in slope, but the camper-services building is not accessible. Larger sites that fit rigs 40 feet or longer are limited, so check the full vehicle-and-trailer length against the site before booking.

Canyon Village is about a quarter mile away, with a full-service restaurant, cafeteria, snack shop and deli, grocery store, gas station, gift shop, and post office. Those services are in the village rather than inside the campground; there is no campground store. The nearby village makes it easy to sort out a meal or basics without driving to another part of the park.
