Pemetic East Cliff Trail

The Pemetic East Cliff Trail is a steep, one-way connector from the lower Bubble & Jordan Pond Path/Triad junction to Pemetic Ridge. The National Park Service inventory lists it at 0.4 mile; another trail description gives 0.3 mile, while the mapped centerline measures about 0.25 mile. The published and mapped distances do not fully agree, so treat the length as approximate and follow the marked junctions. Allow roughly 30 minutes for the climb; retracing the connector doubles its one-way distance, before any approach walk or ridge hike.

The trail climbs steadily and steeply under forest, often over large rocks and boulders. Elevation samples rise from about 185 meters at the lower endpoint to 303 meters at the upper one, roughly 390 feet higher. The short distance does not make this an easy walk: expect irregular footing and take your time over the rocky steps.

The climb works through breaks in the granite and emerges shortly before Pemetic Ridge, where it meets the South Ridge route. The open summit is roughly another half mile along the ridge, beyond this named connector. Plan a separate ridge continuation or return; this segment is not a summit loop.

Reach the lower junction on foot from the Bubble & Jordan Pond Path/Triad trail network; it is an interior junction rather than a drive-up trailhead. Bubble Pond parking serves the larger Pemetic/Bubble Pond loop, and no dedicated parking or facilities at the East Cliff junction were confirmed. Dogs are allowed on most Acadia trails on a leash no longer than six feet. The park separately lists Bubbles-Pemetic Trail as a pet-free route; that is a differently named trail, so check the park's route guidance if you plan to combine neighboring trails.
