Murphys Glen is a five-site campground among tall blue gums and turpentines in the Glenbrook area of Blue Mountains National Park, near Woodford. It suits campers looking for a quiet, low-facility bush stay, with walking and birdwatching close by. Book ahead: with only five marked sites, there is little room to improvise.
The campground has toilets and barbecue facilities. Bring drinking and cooking water, plus a fuel stove and firewood. A short walking track climbs through the forest back to Bedford Road. The gravel exit is steep: trailers need 4WD, while 2WD vehicles can generally reach it without a trailer. Check road conditions after rain, when the unsealed route can become rough or muddy.
Possums, sugar gliders and bats are active in the surrounding trees as the light fades. Cockatoos and other birds can be loud around dawn and dusk, so this may not be a silent night. Keep food secure: possums are bold around campsites.
