The Wattle Changes Its Leaves“A young wattle can show you two different ways of being leafy. Many start with feathery leaves divided into tiny leaflets, then replace them as they grow.”

Trail guide
Paradise Pool walking track is a 2.6 km return from Railway Parade in Linden to a deep creek pool below a small waterfall. Allow about 1½ hours for the walk, longer if you stay for a swim. The broad opening is easy; the rocky descent and climb back make this a moderate walk. Keep to the signed route: stay straight at the early sign, then turn left at the signed T-junction roughly 500 m in. Other descriptions put this same walk at up to 3 km; this entry follows the shorter mapped line from the car park to the pool and back. The pool is in Blue Mountains National Park, where dogs aren't allowed.
The first stretch follows a broad, stony fire trail beside the houses, with a brief mountain view opening to the left. After the signed left turn, the path narrows and drops through bush on uneven rock and roots. Intermittent steps help, but a few short rock ledges still need care. The way down is easier than the return climb.
Near the creek, the track briefly flattens among ferns and small footbridges. Cross the water, then take the signed right fork about 50 m later. That leads to the cliff-top view above the pool; a short, rough descent brings you down to the water.
A small waterfall spills into a deep pool beneath steep sandstone walls, with a sandy patch for easier entry. The water can feel cold even on a warm day. Pause at the cliff-top view first, then look back from the shore to see the waterfall framed by the rock walls. Swim time adds to the walk, and the rough final steps are part of the access.
The broad fire-trail start follows a remnant of historic Cox's Road. William Cox's party built the road in 1815 under Governor Lachlan Macquarie, crossing the Blue Mountains on the route west. The Railway Parade car park was built to direct visitors to the track and reduce the effects of uncontrolled parking near this heritage site.
