Trail guide
This is a 10 km return walk from Bedford Road parking, through Murphys Glen to the Bedford Creek cascades and pool, then back along the same route. It follows access tracks and footpaths through forest. Allow about four hours: mapped estimates range from 2 hours 35 minutes of moving time without breaks to 4 hours 9 minutes overall, with roughly 330 to 365 m of map-estimated ascent. It suits walkers ready for a half-day outing and a rougher creek approach.
The mapped itinerary follows connected Bedford and Murphys access tracks, then paths near Murphys Glen and Bedford Creek. It is a directory-mapped combination of public tracks rather than a single signed visitor walk, so save the route before setting out. The creek end is rougher, with rocky and sometimes eroded patches, shallow crossings and a few short steps down rock.
Small cascades spill over dark sandstone ledges into forest-fringed pools. The water deepens quickly, and submerged rocks or fallen timber can be present, so do not jump or dive. From the bank, frame a cascade with the rock shelf and pool for a sense of the creek setting.
Use the Bedford Road parking access; it is about 1 km from Murphys Glen campground, and vehicles must stop at the locked gate near the campground. The route’s 10 km figure starts there. Walking in from Woodford Station adds about 2.4 km return. Bring drinking water and food; no supply point has been verified along this remote walk. Dogs are not permitted in the park. Murphys Road may close at short notice in wet weather or fire conditions, and wet weather can make the creek trails inaccessible, so check current park alerts before leaving.
