Scott Creek Overlook (MP 448.5)

Expect sweeping mountain vistas, with views trending to the west and north—great for moody layers and dramatic afternoon light. Despite the name, Scott Creek is tucked in the forested valley below and doesn’t show from here.

The Mountains-to-Sea Trail passes right by—pick it up just off the parking area for a longer wander. It’s a long-distance route, so bring a map, set a turnaround time, and treat it as an out-and-back sampler unless you’ve planned a shuttle.

High-elevation overlooks like this can be good for spotting raptors riding thermals (think hawks and vultures). Deer are most active at dawn and dusk; black bears are possible but less common—keep a respectful distance if you’re lucky enough to see one.
