Unlike big-name overlooks, this one is about the chase: catching a seldom‑seen waterfall right from the road. There’s no safe or legal route to the base (private property and steep, overgrown slopes), so enjoy the view from above and keep moving if the leaves have the falls hidden.

The falls are tall (estimates vary widely) and surprisingly secluded. From the parking area, look back across the Parkway to spot the water sliding down the forested slope. It’s easy to miss on your first pass, especially when leaves are up. In leaf‑off seasons, you’ll get a much clearer look. Expect stronger flow after heavy rain or snowmelt; midsummer can be a trickle.
A short connector leads from the overlook to the MST for a peaceful, woodsy walk. Hikers use this spot to start or end segments toward Waterrock Knob or nearby overlooks. In season, you’ll find wildflowers along the trail and even blackberry brambles in summer.
Parking is free and usually wide open. There are no amenities—no restrooms, no tables, no signage to speak of. The cascade sits across the road from the lot, so pull in slowly and be prepared to turn around if you pass it.
This stretch of forest can be lively with songbirds, and deer are a possibility. On the MST, watch for seasonal wildflowers and summer berries.
Bring binoculars or a zoom lens. Frame across the Parkway and use the treeline to lead the eye—leaf‑off days make all the difference.
