The View
You’ll get classic Blue Ridge layers when conditions are clear, but be aware that tree growth has crept into the sightline and can limit the long-range panorama. If it’s not working for you, hop a minute up or down the road to Herrin Knob (MP 424.4) or Rough Butt Bald (MP 425.4) and compare angles.
Wildlife & Plants
This stop draws plant lovers for its diversity on the seep-y rock wall. Casual birdwatching is also pleasant here, and you may spot deer in the surrounding forests. The overlook’s name nods to the days when wolves roamed these mountains.
