Guide
Cairngorm Brewery is a working craft brewery with a shop and taproom on Aviemore’s Dalfaber Industrial Estate. It’s a good stop if you want to try local ales: the taproom pours draught beer, and the shop sells bottled beer, cider, wine and Highland spirits to take away. Production-area tours have been discontinued; visitors come for the taproom and shop.
The brewery started in 2001 and makes cask, keg and bottled beers. Ask about Black Gold, which the brewery says won the UK Supreme Champion title in 2009, or try a paddle of three half-pints to compare a few beers. Visitors often praise the staff for helping them choose.
Dogs are welcome in the shop and taproom. Formal group tastings need advance booking, so arrange one before you go. For a casual visit, call in for a drink and take a few bottles home.
