Trail guide
This is a 1.4 km (about 0.9 mi) loop through Riverside Park, with views over the River Spey. Allow about 30 minutes. The paths are smooth and surfaced, with gentle gradients, so this is a relaxed village walk rather than a hill day.
The circuit starts beside Dalfaber Road, follows the railway-side path north, then arcs through the park and returns along the river. Car parks and toilets are marked around Aviemore village and the railway; the map does not give lot sizes or fees. Dogs can use the route under Scotland’s access rights when kept under proper control.
Aviemore was once little more than a farm and an inn. The railway brought holiday visitors and changed timber transport too: logs that once floated downriver later travelled on rail wagons.
