Rothiemurchus Centre is the estate’s visitor-information hub at Inverdruie, about a mile from Aviemore. The Barn Café, Farm Shop and gift shop make this more than a map stop: you can ask about local walks, eat, or pick up estate produce before heading farther into Rothiemurchus. It’s a useful stop if you’re planning a walk or booked activity, but the Centre isn’t a scenic destination by itself.

The traffic-free Old Logging Way links Aviemore with the Centre, so walking or cycling over is a good option. If you drive, there are car parks by and opposite the Barn, plus a Woodland Car Park on the Aviemore approach. It’s about five minutes by car from Aviemore.

The Barn Café serves breakfast rolls, pastries and coffee, plus soups such as Cullen skink, sandwiches, cakes and traybakes. There’s a designated dog-friendly area. Across the way, the Farm Shop sells Rothiemurchus-reared Highland beef and venison, alongside a deli counter, trout, heather honey and Scottish staples such as haggis and black pudding. It’s a good place to pick up something local for later.

The Centre is the service hub for a much older estate: the Grant family have stewarded Rothiemurchus since the 16th century. The estate traces the name back to at least the 8th century and favors Ràt Murchais, “fort of Murchas”; “great plain of the fir” is a later interpretation the estate says doesn’t fit the name’s sounds. The fort is thought to have stood near Doune House elsewhere on the estate, not at the Centre.
