Allt Mòr and the Lodge Trail“Allt Mòr car park is coming up, and for a shorter forest outing, I'd choose the purple-marked Lodge Trail. The pinewood loop takes about an hour and a half, with uneven gravel and a couple of short steep slopes.”

Trail guide
The Lodge Trail is a 2½-mile (3.9 km) loop through pine woods around Glenmore’s National Outdoor Learning Centre, starting at Allt Mor car park. Follow the purple waymarks; a short access path is shared on the way out and back around the lodge. Allow about 1½ hours for this moderate walk.
Most of the route is on wide, uneven gravel, with patches that can turn muddy. A couple of short, fairly steep slopes and some low branches make this more than a flat stroll. No toilet or drinking-water point is listed along the loop.
Small headstones beside the path near the lodge mark dogs buried there about a century ago by the Dennistoun family. The family ran a Glasgow shipping business and stayed at Glenmore on shooting parties; the stones are an unusual detail to look for as you pass.
Where the Lodge Trail meets the Ryvoan Trail, blue waymarks continue toward An Lochan Uaine (the Green Lochan). Going there and back adds 1½ miles (2.4 km); it is an optional extension, not part of the Lodge Trail distance.
Allt Mor car park is the starting access, and parking is chargeable. Dogs are allowed; keep them on a lead where asked from 1 April to 31 August to protect ground-nesting birds.
