A tiny, oceanside loop about 15 km from Chéticamp, Corney Brook Campground is all about the setting: waves rolling in from the Gulf of St. Lawrence and sunset light straight from the front row. With just 22 unserviced sites and no reservations, it’s a simple, first-come-first-served base for hikers and sunset-chasers who don’t need hookups.
There are 22 unserviced sites with fire pits. Sites 2–16 suit tents, vans, and pickups; Sites 1 and 17–22 can take small trailers or motorhomes up to 6.5 m (21 ft). It’s compact and mostly open—great for views, not for privacy—and the oceanfront exposure means it can be very windy.
Fire bans are sometimes in effect in the park. During bans, no open fires, charcoal, or candles; propane/gas stoves and lanterns are typically allowed. Check current advisories before you arrive and plan to cook on propane if needed.
Expect seabirds overhead and along the shore. Keep a clean camp and secure food and trash—this is wild coastline and the usual Parks Canada #KeepItWild practices apply.
Bring plenty of drinking water, sturdy stakes and guy lines for wind, and a backup plan if it’s full (there are other campgrounds around Chéticamp). Carry cash or a card for self-registration and always check park advisories before you roll in.
