Pamet Area and Bearberry Hill“You're approaching the Pamet Area trail access, where I'd choose Bearberry Hill for two quite different views. Allow forty-five minutes to an hour, with steep grades, log steps and sandy footing near the overlooks.”

Guide
The Pamet Cranberry Bog House is a small, shingled building left from the commercial cranberry operation in Truro's Pamet Valley. It was built around 1830 among the former bogs. The associated 10-acre bog was flooded and drained for harvesting, which continued here into the 1960s. This little building gives the trail a human history beyond its dunes and overlooks.
Reach the house on foot from the Pamet Area Trails trailhead at 111 North Pamet Road, beside the Environmental Education Center. Park there rather than trying to drive to the building. The trail system has log steps and a steep grade up to its overlook, with optional extensions; the exact distance to the Bog House isn't posted, so give yourself time to find the feature.
The building is closed, but interpretation is available outside. There are no restrooms at the trailhead, and pets aren't allowed on the Pamet Area Trails. Treat it as an exterior history stop, not a museum visit.
Include the house with some of the low bog vegetation and water around it. A tight shot of the shingles loses the setting that explains its purpose: this was a working cranberry bog, flooded and drained for harvest.
