Guide
Ripple Rock Nature Center is an education stop on Capitol Reef's Scenic Drive, about 0.9 mile south of the visitor center. It is a place to add for a scheduled activity, not a major landmark. The indoor building is closed, so don't plan on seeing the exhibits.
Outdoor programs for children may run seasonally, typically from late May through mid-August. Check the park calendar or ask at the visitor center before planning around a program. Shaded picnic tables outside offer a simple place to pause along the drive.
When it was active, the center served as a Junior Ranger station, with hands-on displays and scheduled intern-led programs on Indigenous cultures, pioneer history, geology, fossils, astronomy, and wildlife. A corn-grinding exhibit gives a feel for the tactile side of those lessons, but the displays are inside the closed building.
