Bartlett Cove Visitor Information Station (VIS)

If you’re camping or boating beyond Bartlett Cove, you’re required to stop here for a concise safety orientation and to secure permits. Rangers cover route planning, wildlife protocols (with an emphasis on bears), and Leave No Trace practices. Bear-resistant food containers are issued here when needed, and staff provide fresh intel on weather, tide, and bear activity.

Sitting on the waterfront by the dock, the VIS puts you within earshot of the cove. From the dock area, visitors often spot humpbacks, sea otters, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, and bald eagles cruising overhead. Along the shoreline and trails near Bartlett Cove, black bears and coastal brown bears do turn up—another reason those briefings matter.
