Trail guide
Bright Angel Point Trail is a 0.5-mile paved out-and-back on the North Rim, about 30 minutes round trip. It follows a rocky peninsula to Bright Angel Point, then returns on the same path. This is a compact way to reach a broad Grand Canyon view without starting a descent into the canyon.
The path is paved, but it narrows near the point and has exposed sections beside steep drops. Keep children close, stay on the established route, and turn back before the narrowest stretch if heights make you uncomfortable. The route drops toward the point, so expect a short climb on the way back.
The historic approach began at the log shelter by the visitor-center parking area or at the lodge porch. The 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire destroyed both buildings, and the replacement trailhead layout is not yet clear. North Rim access is seasonal and winter snow can close the road; confirm the designated parking and trail access before driving out. Keep dogs leashed under the park's normal rim-trail rules and check current North Rim pet guidance.
