Seasonality & Access

It’s on the park’s inner, seasonal Teton Park Road—so vehicle access is limited in winter. When open, you’ll find a short, paved pull-in loop with parking just steps from the viewpoint.

Best Time to Visit

Light is kinder in the morning and evening, when the glacier’s texture pops and winds tend to be calmer. Midday, especially late morning to mid‑afternoon, is the busiest window; early or late day is quieter. Most people make this a short stop—about 10–15 minutes—unless they’re settling in for photos.

Photography Tips

Bring binoculars or a zoom lens to pick out crevasses and rim detail. Morning light often gives the most pleasing contrast on the ice; evenings can glow if clouds cooperate. Night shooters also like this spot for starry skylines when the road is open.

Wildlife

Not a wildlife hot spot per se. You might spot the occasional animal on the flats, but dedicated wildlife turnouts generally deliver better odds.
