Windy Point Turnout is a roadside pull-off on Teton Park Road near the Moose Entrance, where the central Teton Range fills the skyline. If you are driving by, stop for the view; the parking also serves people using the nearby paved multi-use pathway, so you can avoid the climb from Moose. It is a quick scenic pause rather than a stop with a long list of activities.
Two wayside panels add a little context, and the turnout is listed as wheelchair accessible. For a phone photo, keep some of the sagebrush foreground beneath the peaks. It shows the broad valley below the range and gives the skyline a sense of scale.
Strong winter winds pile snow into deep drifts here, which gave the turnout its name. In fall, bull elk bugle along this stretch at dusk; treat that as a chance to hear them, not a scheduled show.
Lee Manges homesteaded east of the road and built a cabin near Windy Point in 1925. Rangers moved it in 1930 and made it the park's first ranger station and museum. It now serves as the Jenny Lake Ranger Station.
