Henderson Falls

Henderson Falls is an 8–10 m cascade on Henderson Creek, tucked into a fern gully near Lorne. It’s a good pick if you want a waterfall with a proper forest walk: the route from the lower Sheoak car park passes Won Wondah Falls and a giant eucalypt before reaching Henderson Falls. The published distance is 1.8 km each way, with a one-to-two-hour walking time.

The route is described as gentle, with a couple of small rises. The path can be muddy and slippery after rain, so expect a messier surface when the falls are running well. Stop at Won Wondah on the way; this is more than a quick pull-in for one cascade.

Henderson Falls can run strongly after substantial rain, while dry spells may leave little more than a trickle. For a photo, include the fern-lined rock and fallen timber below the drop; a tight crop of the water loses the little gully that gives the falls their setting.

Parking, picnic tables and toilets are available at Sheoak Picnic Area, the route’s lower trailhead. Treat it as your facilities stop before you head into the forest.
