Otway Fly is a ticketed rainforest attraction in the Otways, built around a steel treetop walkway, a Spiral Tower and a cantilever over Young’s Creek. The self-guided rainforest-and-treetop loop is about 1.9 km and takes roughly an hour. Choose it for an actual walk through the canopy, not as a quick roadside lookout; the optional zipline turns it into a much longer outing.

The main car park holds more than 200 vehicles, but it’s about a 300 m walk to the visitor centre, followed by a forest route to the elevated section. Allow about an hour for the loop itself. A courtesy cart may help with the trip from the centre to the walk start, though its availability varies.

The route has grated flooring and stairs, and the Spiral Tower is stairs-only. The courtesy cart isn’t wheelchair accessible. If step-free access matters, check the operator’s current access details before booking rather than relying on the broad “all ages” description.

Above the forest floorThe elevated steel section is 600 m long and runs about 25 to 30 m above the forest floor.

The elevated steel section is 600 m long and runs about 25 to 30 m above the forest floor. The Spiral Tower climbs to 47 m, with a spiral staircase around its central column. A cantilever projects over Young’s Creek, putting the water below the walkway rather than only in the distant view.

The guided zipline is a separate, roughly two-and-a-half-hour activity, moving between canopy stations up to 30 m above the forest floor. It suits visitors who want a guided adventure and have time to spare; it’s a different commitment from the self-guided walk.

Food and the visitor centreThe visitor centre also works as a regional information hub and has a gift and map shop.

The visitor centre also works as a regional information hub and has a gift and map shop. Its café serves takeaway food, with some gluten-free and vegan options. The operator doesn’t allow BYO food, picnics or alcohol on site, so plan to use the café if you want to eat during the visit.

A purpose-built canopy walkThe attraction opened in September 2003.

The attraction opened in September 2003. Its developers, Shane Abel and Neil Wade, had previously worked on the Tahune Airwalk and Dismal Swamp elevated walks in Tasmania. Otway Fly brought that engineered treetop-walk idea to the temperate rainforest of the Otways.
