Triplet Falls

Triplet Falls is a three-cascade waterfall in Great Otway National Park, reached on a circuit from the Triplet Falls and Little Aire Falls car park at the end of Phillips Track. Raised walkways pass through Mountain Ash and Myrtle Beech forest before reaching the falls. The loop is about 1.8–2 kilometres and usually takes 45–60 minutes, so allow about an hour rather than expecting a quick pull-off.

The circuit visits several viewing platforms. The upper, third platform tends to give the clearest look; trees partly screen some lower views. You see the cascades from above and at a distance, not from down at the water. The higher cascade and surrounding tree ferns make the strongest photo angle.

This compact loop has frequent steps and a short steep climb. The steps can be slippery after rain, so wear shoes with grip and take your time. It is not a good choice with a pram, and dogs are not allowed.

The path passes the site of a former timber mill, with log carts and other mill artefacts along the trail. Those remnants give the rainforest walk another layer: this is also a place where you can see traces of the Otways’ timber industry.
