Wild Dog Beach to MarengoThis is a 5.

This is a 5.5 km one-way coastal footpath between Wild Dog Beach and Marengo, passing the wooden sculpture trail on Apollo Bay’s foreshore. It is graded easy to moderate, with a published one-hour estimate; allow more time if you stop to look at the artworks. This is a point-to-point walk, not a loop: walking back makes about 11 km. The central foreshore is also listed as an access point for a shorter visit.

The central stretch follows the foreshore reserve from the tourism centre past the community market space, outdoor eating areas, skate park and playground. The sculpture project began in 1995: 12 participants worked with John McColl to make 14 carved poles, five of them sculpted by McColl. A 1998 community tiling project used 250 kg of terracotta for tiles and relief slabs around the Boat Seat, including sperm-whale and mermaid forms.

Surface, access and dogsThe route is described as a gravel footpath.

The route is described as a gravel footpath. The walking map permits dogs on lead and marks public facilities; toilets and picnic facilities are in the central foreshore area, while facilities at the Wild Dog Beach and Marengo ends were not established. For the full one-way walk, use Wild Dog Creek Beach Car Park as the start and arrange pickup near Marengo; the map also names Apollo Bay and Marengo as access points.
