Parking

Use the day-visitor parking at Blanket Bay Camping Area, then follow the campground paths to the Katabanut track. Access is via the unsealed Blanket Bay Road; the campground map says the area is unsuitable for caravans.

Safety

Campground water is non-potable. The short descent to the falls’ base leaves the trail for an unmarked bush scramble down the hillside; it is not part of the mapped loop.

“Blanket Bay is ahead, a small bay where I'd stop for rockpools and a picnic. Low tide exposes the rock shelves and pools that make the shoreline worth exploring.”

Start on the Katabanut path at the campground, climb through forest to Upper Blanket Bay Falls, then follow part of the Telegraph Walking Track and nearby paths back toward camp. The mapped Katabanut sections include ground tread and a short timber bridge; the rest of the longer route uses local walking and campground tracks. To reach the falls’ base, a short bush scramble drops down the hillside off the main path. At the cascade, include the dark rock ledges and pool in the frame to show its shape, and stay on the established approach.
