“Torquay's beaches are coming up, with two quite different ways to spend a break. For a picnic or calmer water, I'd choose Front Beach and its sheltered Cosy Corner beside Point Danger, though conditions still change.”

This is a one-way 3.26 km (2.03 mi) leg of the Surf Coast Walk, running from Point Danger in Torquay to Bird Rock Lookout in Jan Juc. It links surf beaches and coastal lookouts, with a wide panorama at Rocky Point and a final view over Half Moon Bay. Allow about an hour for the walk itself, with extra time for the viewpoints. This is the Point Danger–Bird Rock section, not the full Surf Coast Walk or the following Bird Rock–Bells Beach leg.

The path leaves Point Danger by the ANZAC Memorial, follows the clifftop past Torquay’s surf beaches, crosses Surf Beach Drive and reaches the timber boardwalk at Spring Creek. After Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club, it crosses Clubhouse Road and continues toward the Ocean Boulevard lookout and Bird Rock. The official grade is 2: mostly flat on a well-formed path, with some steps and sandy footing. Cyclists are directed onto a golf-course track after Spring Creek because the cliff path is sandy.

Rocky Point is the standout pause for a broad view along the coast and across the surf breaks. Farther on, the Ocean Boulevard lookout faces Half Moon Bay; Bird Rock Lookout brings the walk to its endpoint above the beach and cliffs. Keep to the formed track while taking in the exposed coastal views.
