Check the water and shared facilities

The main amenities block has men's, women's, family, gender-neutral and accessible toilets, token-operated showers, laundry and wash-up sinks. A second block behind the pods has toilets and a wash-up area but no showers. Campground taps are untreated, so bring drinking water. Powered sites have a 15-amp socket and water; check the booked site details if you need particular hookups.

Bimbi Park is a fee-based campground and accommodation park at 90 Manna Gum Drive, Cape Otway, about 2 km inland from the coast. Choose from powered or unpowered sites, bush camps, cabins, pods, bunk rooms and on-site vans. It makes a woodland base for exploring the coastal walks and beaches around Cape Otway. If you are bringing a caravan, check that its size fits the site you reserve.

Koalas are often spotted in the manna gums around camp, but they are wild and a sighting is never guaranteed. Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and many birds are also part of the bush setting. There is no fixed wildlife viewing spot, so treat an animal sighting as a bonus rather than the whole reason to stay.

Families have mini golf, a splash park, basketball, table tennis, a playground, bike track and nature trails close by. The camp kitchen is open all day and night, with complimentary barbecues and fire bins at sites and accommodation. Fire use depends on current restrictions. The guest kiosk carries basics, drinks, snacks, ice cream and firewood; plan to cook or bring meals rather than relying on a prepared-food menu.

Local Otways resident Cyril Marriner began leading trail rides with seven horses in 1972, camping overnight at the site. Scouts also camped here from 1976, drawn by its water and natural shelter. Marriner registered the caravan park with the local shire in 1980 and named it Bimbi Park. He and his wife Pat developed the property for about three decades before Kat and Frank’s family took over management in 2005.
